Now, I’m sure none of you have ever done this, but I’ve heard there’s people out there who go to bed without removing their makeup. I know – crazy, right?! I’m also sure those crazy people know how bad it is for their skin (and pillowcases.) But sometimes you’re justso tired(read: drunk) even getting up to use a makeup wipe is too taxing.
The answer is here, oh lazy gals! Okay, technically it’s been here for like a hundred years, but whatever the French tried to keep it a secret from the rest of us. With big beauty brands like Simple, Garnier, and well, basically everyone, Micellar water is finally accessible to the masses.
I first heard of Micellar water a few years ago when I was heading to Europe for the first time and was researching what beauty products to pick up. (Am I a crazy person for doing this? Please tell me someone else out there has done this before traveling.) Everyone and I meaneveryonesaid Bioderma H2O was one product to get and I am anidiotand forgot. You can feasibly get it in the states, thanks to the wonderful world of the internet, but it’s on the expensive side so I just never pulled the trigger.
Fast forward two or three years, and I started seeing them in the drugstore. Simple Micellar water, Garnier Micellar water, Burt’s Bees – all with their own and super affordable. Done.
What Is Micellar Water, and How Do You Use It?
So what is a micellar water? It is basically a ~*miracle*~ product that cleans and moisturizes the skin with out harsh ingredients, and the real kicker – without a need to rinse off. Say What?!?!?!?!
Yup. Through the magic ofmicelles, which are tiny droplets of oil suspended in soft water. The micelles are attracted to other oils and dirt and grime on your skin, which you simply wipe away. It’s kinda like salad dressing – the oils stick together, even if they split from the water. Micellar water was originally invented in the early 1900’s to help French ladies stay beautiful despite the harsh water they had in France at the time.
So all you have to do is take a clean cotton pad, soak in a little micellar water, and wipe down your whole face. Granted, I find that very heavy makeup or waterproof eye products still need some love, so I would use a makeup wipe or cleanser first with those, but for everyday grime – I actually like it better than my normal cleanser. I also love to use it in the morning before applying my makeup to wipe off any leftover night cream or sleepy-ness (you know what I mean) because its so refreshing.
Overall – super lazy girl approved. You have no more excuses to wake up raccoon eyed-d and broken out, fellow lazy girls. Keep a bottle this stuff and some cotton rounds in your nightstand.
